Required Education / Training:

Standard 10 (Grade 12) / N3 or equivalent



Required Minimum Work Experience:

• 3-6 years Paralegal experience

• A sound legal secretarial knowledge is required.

• A typing speed of 50 wpm is required.

Legal Collection:



INPUT (METHODS USED)

• Welcomes customers and visitors, telephonically and in person and answers or directs queries

• Maintains or protects Mahumani Inc. by keeping information private and confidential

• Following up on work already done to ensure that the work is in order

• Can report to the head of the department about all work done.

• Ensuring that all files are neat and in order.

• Sound secretarial support always rendered in an effective manner.

• Work to be done in a timely fashion.

Issuing of Summons:



INPUT (METHODS USED)

• Distributes documents, having read, and established which area it relates to and forwarding to same

• Prepare written reports

• Draft legal documents including briefs, appeals, wills, contracts, and legal agreements

• Help prepare legal arguments, applications, declarations, and motions





OUTPUT (EXPECTED RESULTS)

• Locate and interview potential witnesses

• Conduct and/or organize investigations and document searches.

• Review and summarize discovery

• Attend court and certain procedural meetings, such as estate planning meetings with clients

• Assist attorneys in depositions

• Assist the lawyer in the courtroom



Managing of Legal process for Legal Collection:



INPUT (METHODS USED)

• Provides other administrative duties including but not limited to collating information and reports, scheduling

meetings, answering telephone queries, diary management and maintaining an effective filing and retrieval

system

• Typing of all legal and other documents, correspondence and reports as instructed or by using a Dictaphone

• Perform legal and factual research of records

• Identify relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes, and other pertinent material

• Organise and analyse information, cross-check, and validate information

• Helping people comply with administrative functions such as the completion of official documentation.

• Understanding fundamental legal concepts

• Providing basic legal advice.

• Understanding when to refer matters to a Legal Practitioner.

• Advising and educating communities of their Human Rights



Providing support to Legal Practitioners (Associates) in respect of all RAF/Commercial files:



• Capture External trust customer invoices includes the Management Fee invoices.

• Manage external Investment trust account.

• Adhering to Diary System

• Follow-up on requests

• Understanding of legal process

• Preparing affidavits, legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys.

• Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to talk about case details.

• Filing pleadings with court clerk.

• Directing and coordinating law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas.

• Gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, documents and other data.

• Calling on witnesses to testify at hearings.

• Keeping law library up-to-date by monitoring legal volumes.
